English requires students to understand and articulately relate context, language features and themes. A misleading perception for English involves the memorisation of essays before exams. However, this technique can ultimately result in a students downfall as essay questions may not always suit the planned essays. Many tutoring schools run English classes that focus on their own structured teaching curriculum for texts which usually does not help students with adapting and answering questions.
The Studium will run lessons structured to counter this problem by having students in a room practising essays, creative writing and short response answers related to their school assessments. Tutors will monitor students and be available for students to approach whenever help is required. When a students response is completed, the tutors will instantly mark and offer feedback for students to improve before returning with an improved response. By doing this, students will learn to write on the spot, adapting to questions with qualities consistent in Band 6 responses instead of memorising essays.
